A Police Corporal and an unidentified man were shot and killed during a shootout between gunmen and police last evening in the kingston western division.

The identity of the cop is being with held pending notification of relatives.

It’s reported that at around 10:45 pm police responded to an incident in the area, when they were fired on by gunmen.

A shoot out ensued.

When the shooting subsided, the corporal and the unidentified man were taken to hospital where they succumbed.

In the meantime, the police high command has condemned the killing of the corporal.

The high command also expressed condolences to the family, colleagues and friends of the slain cop, while noting that a thorough investigation has been launched to apprehend the persons responsible for his death.
