The St. Ann police are probing the suspected drowning of a 12-year-old boy on Musgrave Street, Brown’s Town, yesterday (February 12).

He has been identified as Nicholai Reid, a student of the Aboukir High school in the parish.

Reports are that around 2 PM, the student was at home with his mother who was washing clothes. She reportedly asked him to catch water from an open tank that was in their yard.

Further reports are that the mother heard the child scream for help. Checks revealed that he had fallen into the water tank.

The police and fire brigade were alerted.

The 12-year-old was pronounced dead at hospital.
