Police list over 200 people as wanted for various crimes committed islandwide

Over two hundred people are listed as wanted by the police in relation to various crimes committed across the country.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Fitz Bailey, who is head of the Crime and Security Portfolio, made the revelation during a press briefing in Kingston this morning (January 27).

He said the individuals are wanted for murders, shootings, rapes, extortion and other serious crimes.

He appealed to the wanted persons to turn themselves in.

DCP Bailey named 90 of the persons wanted for serious offences.

Forty-eight are wanted for murders and 31 for shootings.

They include Eric Clarke otherwise called Legacy, who is wanted for a murder in Hanover, and Vernon Shearer otherwise called Vandam, who is wanted for illegal possession of firearm, rape, and abduction.

The full list of wanted persons is available on the Jamaica Constabulary Force’s website and social media pages.

Meantime, DCP Bailey said investigators are collaborating with international partners as they continue the probe into the seizure of 20 illegal guns, at the St. James based international airport, last Friday (January 21).

The guns, along with 40 magazines were seized at the cargo section of the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay.

The police’s Corporate Communications Unit had said that at least two people are being questioned in relation to the find.

Speaking during a press briefing in Kingston this morning, DCP Bailey said the investigations continue.
