The police are maintaining a strong presence in sections of Trench Town in Kingston Western, following two separate shooting incidents which resulted in the deaths of three people including a police officer.

The deceased cop has been identified as Corporal Oliver Mullings.

The other men remain unidentified.

In the first incident at around 10:45 pm, Corporal Mullings and another man were killed.

Reports are that Corporal Mullings and other officers were responding to an incident when gunmen opened fire hitting Mullings.

The lawmen returned fire and one of the gunmen was hit.

He and Corporal Mullings were pronounced dead.

A firearm was also seized.

Following that incident another man was fatally shot by the police during an alleged confrontation.

The police are monitoring the space.
