Police Wage Negotiations To Continue

by May 21st, 2015

Wage negotiations between The Finance Ministry and The Police Federation, which represents rank and file officers, are expected to continue today.

Chairman of The Police Federation, Sergeant Raymond Wilson, had stated last week that the police were expecting The Ministry to come today, with a better offer than the 5% increase now on the table.

The police are the latest group of public sector workers to reject the offer of a 5% wage increase.

In a statement yesterday, Public Service Minister Horace Dalley, said he is looking forward to satisfactorily concluding the items on the 54-point claim, which was submitted by the police.

Mr Dalley said 31 of the 54 claims have already been reviewed by both parties.

The Minister said the issue of wages has been dominating several agenda items across the public sector unions for the 2015/17 wage period.

Mr Dalley said the government recognises the investment that public service officers have made, and that as government negotiates with the unions, the parties can work towards satisfying the claims.

The Ministry says other union meetings are on-going.
