Two policemen have been charged with rape stemming from an 8-year long investigation involving a then 16-year-old girl from St. James.

Sergeant Bruce Walker and Constable Rohan Mullings were assigned to the parish at the time of the incident, which is alleged to have taken place on May 28, 2013.

Reports are that the policemen responded to an incident, during which the teen girl was allegedly sexually assaulted.

She was taken to the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA), where she made a report in 2015.

The case file was prepared and referred to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP), which ruled that Walker and Mullings be charged.

The cops were charged following an interview in the presence of their attorneys, yesterday. A date is being arranged for their court appearance.

The JCF is assuring the members of the public that such allegations are taken seriously and that it is committed to ensuring the safety and security of citizens.
