Rehearsals are in full swing, the venue is being prepared, the speakers are flying in, and the entertainers ready to go are all indicators that preparations for the Marcus Garvey Celebration are in high gear.
The event commemorating the lifeworks of Jamaica’s first national hero will see live performances from the likes of the legendary Bunny Wailer, Richie Spice, Singer J and Bongo Herman.
Other entertainers lending their talent in support of IRIE FM’s Marcus Garvey Celebration geared to uplift, motivate, and educate through the spoken word, music, arts, and culture include Lila Ike, Runkus, Jah Izrehl, Keke I, and I Jahknowah along with Bunny Wailer’s Solomonic Reggaestra.
The Marcus Garvey celebration under the theme LIBERATE THE MINDS OF MEN AND ULTIMATELY YOU WILL LIBERATE THE BODIES OF MEN, will feature speakers such as Humanitarian and writer, Professor Bayinah Bello, Antiguan journalist and Rastafarian ambassador, Ras Franki Tafari, and Louis Farrakhan’s representative, David Muhammad among others.
The day and night event is slated to run from 6 am to 10 pm, with a LIVE Outside Broadcast of the Africa Forum with Ka’Bu Ma’at Kheru and Mutabaruka.
The 26th staging of the Marcus Garvey Celebration will be held on Sunday, August 19 in the IRIE FM Courtyard.
