Attorneys representing dance hall entertainer Vybz Kartel and his three co-accused say the appeal in the Privy Council will be heard late this year, or early next year.

Attorney Bert Samuels who represents one of the co-accused, Shawn Campbell other wise called ‘Shawn Storm’, says the Privy Council’s decision on February 15, relates to additional grounds for appeal, that were being sought by the attorneys.

The Privy Council ruled that permission to appeal the additional grounds advanced on behalf of Mr. Palmer and the three co-accused, be refused.

It also refused the application for an extension of time and the application to rely on fresh evidence.

The Privy Council says those grounds do not support the submission that a serious miscarriage of justice has occurred.

Kartel whose real name is Adidja Palmer, Shawn Campbell, Kahira Jones and Andre St. John were convicted by a jury in 2014 of the murder of Clive ‘Lizard ‘ Williams in 2011.

Kartel was sentenced by justice Lennox Campbell to life imprisonment and ordered to serve 35 years before parole.

The other men were sentenced to life imprisonment and each ordered to serve 25 years before parole.

The men lost their appeal in the court of appeal and then appealed to the Privy Council.
