by November 15th, 2022

A project to reduce garbage entering the Kingston Harbour is to be expanded in the coming months.

The project, which is a collaborative venture involving local entities and international agency ‘The ocean clean-up’, has been seeing positive results so far.

Kingston Mayor, Delroy Williams, notes that in the initial phase of the project, focus was placed on trapping debris from three gullies, that empty into the Kingston Harbour, using what’s called the barrier technology.

The pilot phase involved the extraction of garbage from three gullies.

Mayor Williams said, the intention is to widen the scope of the project, to collect garbage from 12 gullies.
