A public health expert has suggested that the spread of the Omicron variant of the Coronavirus in Jamaica, could turn out to be a positive for the country.

Medical Director of Windsor Wellness Centre, Dr. Alfred Dawes said Omicron could help to build immunity for other more deadly strains of the virus.

He explained that because the strain spreads quickly, but is less deadly, it could have a similar effect to a vaccine.

Dr. Dawes said the antibodies from omicron could prove effective against future strains of Covid.
