by January 3rd, 2018

Ray Lewis and Randy Moss headline a group of four first-time nominees who are among an overall group of 15 finalists eligible for induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Lewis, who won the Super Bowl twice with the Baltimore Ravens, was a 13-time Pro Bowl selection, a two-time Defensive Player of the Year and Super Bowl MVP.

Moss, widely regarded as one of the best wide receivers in history, had eight seasons with at least 1,200 receiving yards.

Completing the list of first time nominees are former Chicago Bears star linebacker Brian Urlacher the 2005 Defensive Player of the Year and 8-time Pro Bowl selection as well as seven-time Pro Bowl selectee Steve Hutchinson.

Overall the quartet finished their careers with a combined 34 Pro Bowl selections and 20 first-team All-Pro selections.

Tackle Tony Boselli, wide receiver Isaac Bruce, safety Brian Dawkins, guard Alan Faneca, tackle Joe Jacoby, running back Edgerrin James, cornerback Ty Law, safety John Lynch, center Kevin Mawae, wide receiver Terrell Owens and cornerback Everson Walls are the other finalists.

The Class of 2018 will be chosen by the Board of Selectors at a meeting February 3 in Minneapolis, Minnesota — the day before Super Bowl LII. At that meeting, the list of modern-era finalists will be trimmed to 10 and then to five.

The five finalists will then be chosen on a yes-or-no basis, and those who receive 80 percent approval will be enshrined next August in Canton, Ohio.
