Trinidadian cricketer Rayad Emrit is heading home as early as possible after the experience yesterday when a suicide bomber killed at least three persons and injured a dozen in an attack outside the Kabul International cricket ground in Afghanistan.
Emrit, who plays for the boost defenders in the afghan T/20 League was on the field in the second match of a doubleheader against MIS Ainak-knights when the blast occurred.
The 36 year old all-rounder says he is not taking any chances with his life and will be returning home as soon possible.
Emrit added that he will leave tomorrow as soon as he gets a flight out of the country.
Emrit, recently competed for the Guyana amazon warriors in the Caribbean premier league and has plied his trade in numerous cricket leagues around the world including in Bangladesh, Pakistan and Hong Kong.
The other overseas players at the ground at the time of the blast were Emrit’s teammates Cameron Delport and Morne van Wyk of South Africa……..as well as the Zimbabwean trio of Vusi Sibanda, Rikandar raza and Ryan Burl.
The match was stopped briefly after the blast but once the Afghanistan government-appointed security gave the clearance, it resumed.
