Reactions to the killing of Cop in St Catherine

by September 20th, 2017

The Opposition People’s National Party PNP has described  attacks  on personnel or institutions of law and order as worrisome signs.

PNP General Secretary Julian Robinson Wednesday  condemned the killing of  29  year old Constable, Nicaldo Green.

He  was killed as he arrived home in  Portmore ST Catherine, last evening.

The cop’s weapon was taken.

Constable green was stationed at the Stadium Police Station in Mr Robinson’s ST Andrew South East constituency.

Mr Robinson who visited the police station  said he  urged the officers to be strong and to remember Green as a young cop filled with principles and passion for service.

The PNP general secretary also urged the lawmen to leave no stone unturned as they seek to apprehend the perpetrators,  as the society must bring an end to the wave of criminal activity affecting the country.

Meanwhile,  the Police High Command has assigned a team of top-level detectives to carry out investigations into the murder of constable Green .

In condemning the killing, Commissioner of police, George Quallo has given his commitment to bring the cop’s killers to justice.

According to the commissioner, the murder of constable Green comes as a shock to the organization, his family and his colleagues and represents an attack on the state.

Commissioner Quallo says it is apparent that criminals are more daring and emboldened in their intention to attack innocent citizens, and the institution of law and order.

He states that  even as police officers dedicate their lives to serving citizens under difficult circumstances, they continue to face menacing criminals who are not afraid to attack, maim, and kill them without remorse.

Commissioner Quallo adds that these attacks are a constant reminder that Jamaicans should unite and help in the fight against crime, rather than constantly gnawing at law enforcement officers and other members of the security forces, who perform a mammoth task, with grace and pride.

And the  Chairman of the Police Federation is questioning the effectiveness of penalties for criminals who continue to create mayhem in the society.

He says, police officers continue to come under  attack from criminals.  Sergeant  Wilson says there needs to be stiffer penalties for criminals
