Reggae Boyz name starting XI for Saudi Arabia test

by October 6th, 2017

Jamaica’s national senior footballers will on Saturday face World Cup qualifiers Saudi Arabia in their big friendly at the 62,000 seater King Salman Abdullah Sports City stadium in Jeddah.

Young striker Alex Marshall of National Premier League club Cavalier and Devon Williams of USL outfit Louisville FC will get their first start for in what will be an unusual 4-2-3-1 formation.

Romario Williams will start as the lone striker with the trio of Marshall, Je-Vaughn Watson and Jamiel Hardware slotting in just behind him.

They will play in front Ewan Grandison and Devon Williams with Damion Lowe and Ladale Richie the central defenders. Oniel Fisher (right) and Shaun Francis (left) will play as the wingbacks with Dwayne Miller in goal.

Both teams have met 3 times with each team winning once, losing once and drawing the other.

The game meanwhile will not have the designated friendly A international status owing application to FIFA by Saudi Arabia and which had earlier threatened the game being played.

This means the outcome will not be of benefit to Jamaica’s FIFA rankings nor players cap or international goals.
