Reggae Boyz open CNL qualifiers with win over Cayman Islands

The Reggae Boys brushed aside Cayman Islands 4-0 at the National Stadium on Sunday to get off to a winning start in the Concacaf Nations League qualifiers.

Darren Mattocks with a brace and Cory Burke, who also scored twice, did the damage for the Jamaican team in front of just under 1400 spectators.

Mattocks shot Jamaica into an early lead with a brilliant second while Burke doubled the lead from point blank range in the 34th minute.

Mattocks the sealed his double with another header in the 58th minute as Burke closed the show in the 66th minute.

Jamaica ended the game with 10 players after Javon East suffered an injury late in the contest after the team had already used up its compliment of substitutions.

Coach Theodore Whitmore although overall happy with the win thought the Reggae Boyz dropped their standard.

The team will next face Cuba in a pair of friendly encounters on October 2nd and 5th before playing away to Bonaire in the CNL qualifiers on October 14.
