Reggae Girls held to 2-all draw in their final game at Concacaf Under 20 Women’s Championship

The local contingent of Jamaica’s Under 20 Reggae Girls team are set to return to the island this afternoon.This after ending their campaign at the Concacaf Under 20 Women’s Championship in Trinidad last night with a 2-all draw against Nicaragua at the Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva.

Showing superb ascendancy from the opening kick-off, Jamaica should have won the game easily given the number of chances they got in the game, but misfiring, and slopping finishing cost them down stretch.

The wily and skillful Aloufasalade Adamlouken found herself unmarked and fired past the Nicarguan Goal keeper Alicia Norori who fumbled to put Jamaica in front one nil after 6 minutes, advantage Jamaica.

However, Jacyln Gilday responded for Nicaragua and leveled the scores, when she converted from the penalty spot in minute 23. Substitute Jazmin Grant put Jamaica up 2-1 after 54 minutes, but the Central Americans were intent on walking away with share of the spoils as they leveled again through Yasmin Flores who fired from long range to beat the Jamaican goal keeper Sydney Schneider who was caught out of position.

Assistant Coach Hue Menzies  in his exit interview had a serious advice for the JFF as it regards the future of Women’s football in Jamaica.

Earlier the United States ran out Group B winners after securing a 2 -1 win over Mexico.

With the preliminary round now completed the tournament will now resume on Friday with semi-final action, where Canada face off with Mexico and defending Champions USA meeting Haiti in the others semi-final.
