Reggae Girlz striker Kayla McKoy out of World Cup with injury

by June 4th, 2019

Jamaica’s Reggae Girlz have been hit with a massive setback just ahead of the start of the upcoming FIFA Womens World Cup with striker Kayla McKoy being ruled out after being diagnosed with a damaged ACL.

The 22 year-old, who has made three appearances so far for the Reggae Girls, picked up the injury in the international friendly against Scotland in Glasgow last week.

McKoy was substituted late in the game following the injury after replacing Khadijah Shaw who was also taken off because of injury.

Assistant coach Andrew Price says the Houston Dash striker is taking the disappointment in good spirit.

A replacement for McKoy will be decided on shortly by the technical staff.

The Reggae Girlz are getting ready to wrap up their final training camp in Lyon, before heading off to Grenoble where they will face Brazil in their debut World Cup encounter on Sunday.
