Retired netball shooter Irene Van Dyke flies in today for ‘Pickney’ Coaching Clinic

Retired former South Africa and new Zealand goal shooter Irene Van Dyke is arriving in the island today where she will host the three days netball Jamaica sanctioned Pickney Netball Coaching Clinic at the National Arena.. 

Back after two years the clinic will be re-launched, targeting children between the ages of five to 10 year old between tomorrow and Friday.

Part of the mandate of the Pickney Netball Clinic is to introduce the correct rules and playing methods and use of equipment when teaching netball to small children.

Van Dyk is one of the world’s best-known netballers and the most capped international player of all time.

She represented South Africa 72 times and also captained the team.

She was the 2003 New Zealand sportswoman of the year and a nominee in 2005. She became a New Zealand citizen in 2005, and represented New Zealand for 14 years before retiring from international netball in June 2014.
