Ricardo Fuller comes out of retirement

by January 24th, 2019

Former Reggae Boyz striker Ricardo Fuller has come out of retirement to play non-league football in England.

The 39-year old, who last represented Jamaica in 2012, will now be plying his trade in the sixth tier with promotion-chasing Nantwich Town, after signing for the club on Wednesday.

Fuller arrives at the Weaver Stadium after a break of two years away from the game and could line up for them at Matlock Town on Saturday.

He had 180 appearances for Stoke City where he proved an inspiration helping them gain promotion to the English Premier League in 2008 and also helped them get to the 2011 FA Cup final – although he missed out on the glory of playing at Wembley due to injury.

The former Preston striker ended his six-year spell at the Bet365 Stadium where he became a cult figure with 50 goals.

He also had single season stays with Charlton, Blackpool, Millwall and Oldham Athletic until he hung up his boots in January 2016.

The former Tivoli Gardens player notched 10 goals from 77 international matches representing Jamaica.
