Riverton dump worker killed after being hit by truck

A worker at the Riverton disposal site in St Andrew, died after being hit in the head by the tail gate of a truck, today.

 

The man’s identity has not been released.

 

Meantime, the National Solid Waste Management Authority (NSWMA) has commenced internal investigations, to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

 

In a statement today, the NSWMA says, an accident occurred at the Riverton disposal site in St. Andrew this afternoon, resulting in the death of a worker assigned to a contractor engaged by the agency.

 

The worker was killed while in the process of loading a truck.

 

The agency says the police were contacted and that the agency is cooperating with investigators.

 

Executive Director of the NSWMA Audley Gordon, has expressed regret and sadness at the death of the worker.
