The National Road Safety Council is imploring all motorists to be cautious on the nation’s roadways, over the Easter Holiday weekend.

The warning comes as the number of persons killed on the road network since the start of the year hits 130.

An unidentified man, believed to be in his 80s, is among the latest persons to die in an accident.

Reports are that on Monday (April 11), the man was riding his bicycle along Darlington Drive, in St. Catherine, when he was run over by a truck.

In expressing sadness at the incident, Vice Chairman of the National Road Safety Council, Dr. Lucien Jones urged citizens to always be careful when using the roadways.

Noting that the roadways are expected to be heavily traversed during the holiday period, Dr. Jones is also urging motorists to be mindful of the weather condition.
