Roadway in St. Andrew undermined due to broken NWC pipeline

by March 21st, 2018

Crews from the National Water Commission (NWC) are working to repair a broken pipeline in the vicinity of the Hope Road St. Andrew.

Traffic flow has been negatively affected in the area and the NWC says the roadway has been undermined, causing a section of the left lane in the vicinity of Kings House, to cave in.

NWC Communications Manager Charles Buchanan says shortly after this section of the roadway was affected, the Lady Musgrave and Montrose roadways were also undermined.

As the repairs are being undertaken, a number of areas will see a disruption in service.

The areas affected include Devon Road, West Kings House Road, Waterloo Road, Hope Road, Kingsway and surrounding areas.

Mr. Buchanan explains that it is unclear, if the broken pipeline in the vicinity of Kings House Road affected other areas, but teams will be working right into tomorrow morning, to address the issues.

In the meantime, Acting Head of the Traffic and Highway Division Senior Superintendent Courtney Coubrie is imploring motorists traversing the thoroughfare to follow the direction of the police to properly manoeuvre the area.
