Roston Chase takes 8-60 as Windies demolish England by 381 runs

Barbadian right-arm part-time spinner Roston Chase was on the rampage today as West Indies annihilated England inside four days while completing a comprehensive 381 run win in the first Test at the Kensington Oval.

Chase, with a career-best 8 for 60 off 21.4 overs, almost singlehandedly tore through the England batting to dismiss the visitors for 246 and give the Windies a 1-0 lead in the three-Test series.

England, starting the day on 56 without loss, going after an improbable 628 fell to their second heaviest defeat by runs to the West Indies.

Rory Burns hit a top-score of 84 before his team lost 9 wickets for 112 runs. Shannon Gabriel (1-55) and Alzarri Joseph (1-35) accounted for the other wickets.

West Indies captain Jason Holder was named Man of The Match after joining Wasim Akram and Allan Border on an elite list of three Test captains to have scored a double century and claim 10 wickets.

Final scores: West Indies 289 & 415 for 6 declared, England 77 & 246.

The teams will now to Antigua for the second Test which starts on Thursday at the Sir Viv Richards Stadium.
