Royal Caribbean workers coming home today

by May 19th, 2020

The government has granted permission for Royal Caribbean cruise line’s Adventure of the Seas to dock in Falmouth, Trelawny at noon today.

The ship is transporting 1,044 Jamaican cruise ship workers who have been anxiously awaiting their return date. Some have been in quarantine for up to eight weeks in anticipation of their arrival.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness says cabinet yesterday approved specific protocols related to this vessel. This will be the largest number of Jamaicans repatriated at any one time so far.

He explains that the workers will disembark on a phased basis in groups of 200 every 48 to 72 hours. After testing at the port they will be quarantined at the Grand Bahia Principe hotel in St. Ann.

The Prime Minister says the ship workers must consent to be monitored and do video check-ins.
