RSU urges road users to be safe this Easter

by March 30th, 2018

With increased traffic expected and people driving in unfamiliar environments this holiday weekend, road safety is again being encouraged on the nation’s thoroughfares.

The Road Safety Unit is repeating its call for road users to be alert, patient and cut speed, going into the long Easter holiday weekend.

70 people have been killed in traffic crashes since the start of the year.

Director of the Road Safety Unit, Kenute Hare, is hoping for zero fatalities over the four-day period, even as the projection for road fatalities by this month-end is 77.

He is also calling on road users to wear helmets and seat belts, and exercise caution in crossing roadways to prevent deaths in the traffic environment this weekend.

Mr. Hare wants passengers and drivers to police their own actions while operating on the roadways.

He says teams from the RSU will be out along the roadways this weekend, in an attempt to reduce traffic crashes.
