The Jamaica Labour Party says it’s in possession of the formal written resignation of Ruel Reid from the North West St Ann constituency.

In a statement Monday, the JLP said Mr. Reid tendered his resignation to the party via email last Sunday, September 15, and then by way of a written letter.

The JLP says it has accepted Mr. Reid’s resignation and that he is therefore not the chairman or caretaker for North West St Ann.

This development follows claims by the opposition last Sunday that the embattled former education minister, had been campaigning in North West St Ann, as the official candidate.
