by July 21st, 2018

Young people participating in this year’s summer camp at the St. Ann Police Division will benefit from scholarships, bursaries and other prizes.

The one week camp, which starts next Monday July 23, at the divisional headquarters in St. Ann’s Bay, caters to children from age 3 to 18.

Sergeant Lorna Small says the police have partnered with several sponsors to offer scholarships to participants who did well in this year’s Grade Six Achievement Test (GSAT) and bursaries for those who are going on to tertiary level studies.

The annual summer camp is in its 14th staging, and is aimed at fostering better relations between the police and the youth from the surrounding communities.

Sergeant Small says among the activities to be held next week, is an excursion to the Kool Runnings water park in Negril.

They will also visit the National Police College in St. Catherine.

The scholarship winners will be selected during the course of the week.

She says the tertiary bursary is valued at $50,000.

Children participating in this year’s camp should wear colour coded  clothing for easy identification as a participant – red on Monday, yellow on Tuesday, Jamaica colours on Wednesday, blue on Thursday, and Jamaica colours again on Friday.
