Scorpions go down to defending champs Guyana Jaguars

The Jamaica Scorpions went down to their third loss of the season on Sunday when they were beaten by 7 wickets by defending champions Guyana Jaguars inside of three days at the Guyana National Stadium.

The Jaguars who started the day at 25 without loss chasing 171 for victory secured the win at 171 for 3, led by a top-score of 61 from captain Leon Johnson.

This follows Saturday’s dramatic batting collapse which saw the Scorpions being bowled out for 132.

Final scores: Jamaica Scorpions 358 and 132, Guyana Amazon Warriors 321 and 171 for 3.

The Barbados Pride and the Leeward Islands Hurricanes were also 7th round winners.

Barbados Pride registered a four wicket win over the Trinidad and Tobago Red Force at Kensington Oval.

The home team resumed on 15 without loss needing another 309  for  victory. Johnathan carter  spearheaded  the  victory  charge  with  a  solid  unbeaten century  knock  of  149  to  see  his  team  to  victory   at  326  for  6. Shamar Spinger supported with 66  and Tevyn Walcott  48.

Final scores T&T Red Force 358 and 247 for 6, Barbados Pride 282   and 326 for 6,

In the meantime, the Leeward Islands Hurricanes got  by  Windward Islands Volcano at Windsor Park in Dominica by 12  runs.

The Volcanoes started the day needing 231 to win and continued yesterday from their overnight 10 without loss.

Sunil Ambris with an unbeaten 102 was unable to see them over the mark as they were bowled out for 228.

Rahkeem Cornwall dominated the Volcanoes batsmen to end with 5 for 79. Quinton Boatswain supported with 3 for 5 and Sheno Berridge and Nelson Bolan claimed one wicket each.
