Dancehall entertainers Sean Paul, Beenie Man, and Mavado are among the slew of social media users sending messages of R.I.P for rapper DMX, who died at the age of 50 on Friday (April 9) following complications from a heart attack.

The family in a statement said, in part, “We are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, passed away at 50-years-old at White Plains Hospital with his family by his side after being placed on life support for the past few days.”

Meanwhile, on Instagram Sean Paul wrote, “R.I.P Big G. Thanks for all you have given us. Condolences to your fam, friends, and fans. You are missed. @DMX”

Beenie Man, in his caption of a picture of DMX, wrote, ”My brother, this one is hefty, but we are going to stay strong. Blessings for the impact, the hard work, the friendship, and great music. Rest up @DMX.

Mavado, in his tribute, wrote, “R.I.P to a real dog.”

Other messages of condolence came from D Khaled, Eve, Gabriel Union, and Swizz Beatz.

DMX had been hospitalized since last week after he suffered a heart attack at his home in New York due to an alleged overdose.

The rapper, who was the cornerstone of the Ruff Ryders label, has battled substance abuse and has been to rehab several times.

DMX got his start in music back in the ’80s, but it wasn’t until ’98 that he truly broke out, when he released his Ruff Ryders debut studio album “It’s Dark and Hell is Hot.”

He last performed in July 2020, when X faced off with Snoop Dogg in a Verzuz battle which saw more than 500k viewers tune in.
