Searchers unable to find body of man who drowned in Portland

The marine police have still not located the body of the Portland teen, who is believed to have drowned in Buff Bay on Sunday.

18-year-old, Nikoy Murray, reportedly went for a swim at a river  in the vicinity of the Olivere Housing scheme in Buff Bay, and drowned.

Searches have been conducted by the coast guard, marine police and local divers however the body is yet to be located.

Commanding Officer for Portland DSP Oniel Thompson, says the area being searched is reportedly infested with sharks, however the search will continue.

The teen’s family is calling on the government to put in place stronger mechanisms, to aid in search operations.

They say they are disappointed with the efforts of the Marine Police and Coast Guard, to find the teen’s body.
