Chief Justice Bryan Sykes has ruled to accept into evidence, secret recordings of conversations between the alleged members of the Clansman-One Don Gang.

The Chief Justice in making his ruling today (February 14), said the recordings met the requirement under the Evidence Amendment Act of 2015.

The recordings were done by an alleged member of the gang, using three cellular phones.

The prosecution says it is relying on the phone records to corroborate the testimonies of the two main prosecution witnesses, who say they were members of the gang and the accused were also alleged members.

Defence Attorney Lloyd Mcfarlane today opposed submissions by the prosecution that the devices were working properly because the witness was able to download and open the recordings.

The alleged leader of the gang Andre Blackman and 32 others are being tried for various offences under the Criminal Justice Act and the Firearms Act.

Chief Justice Sykes is trying the case in the Home Circuit Court.
