by July 30th, 2017

Tourism Minister Ed Bartlett says renovations are to be carried out on 3 locations in Montego Bay St. James, ahead of the United Nation’s World Tourism Conference in November.

The renovations will be done on the Montego Bay Convention Centre, the elegant corridor in Rose Hall and the inner-city community of Flankers, at a cost of about $452 m.

Mr. Bartlett says about half of the funds will be used on the convention centre alone.

He says the Ministry of Tourism, in partnership with the St. James Municipal Corporation will be spending $60,000 to improve the aesthetics of the road network in the city of Montego Bay.

Another $252 m will be used for landscaping works from the Sangster International Airport round about, to Greenwood.

Meanwhile, the Tourism Minister says, another $ 40 m  will be invested in a special programme in the community of flankers.

It will provide entrepreneurial skills training, to tap into the business opportunities that will come with the hosting of the conference, set for November 27 to 29.

He was speaking at the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce seminar yesterday (July 29).
