The Senate has approved a bill to repeal the minimum business tax, taking it one step closer, to the formal removal of the tax measure.

The bill will be sent next to the Governor General for his assent.

Leader of Government Business in the Senate, Kamina Johnson Smith, told the upper house, that the changed tax measure will be retroactive, up to January.

This formal process of removal comes a few months after government zero rated the tax.
