Senators this morning (Apl 28) sparred over the decision by the Industrial Disputes Tribunal (IDT), not to pursue two cases at the Privy Council.

The IDT was involved in labour related cases which involved the University of Technology, and the National Commercial Bank ex-parte.

Information Minister, Ruel Reid, in answering questions posed by Opposition Senator Lambert Brown, stated that the IDT chose not to have the Attorney General represent it at the Privy Council.

Senator Brown stated that the Privy Council requested that the government make representation on behalf of the Privy Council.

Senator Reid said that the action of the IDT is not peculiar.
