by August 20th, 2021

Prime Minister Andrew Holness has announced 7 no movement days, in an effort to prevent further transmission of covid-19 in the country.

Mr. Holness, who was addressing the nation last evening, said after careful consideration by the cabinet, it was decided that tougher measures had to be implemented.

He explained that the first no-movement day will commence on Sunday, August 22.

The prime minister noted, however, that the curfew will be extended today and tomorrow to ensure persons can prepare for the no-movement days.

Mr. Holness noted that workplaces will be required to close at midday today, to allow preparation for the no-movement days.

He said, however, that specific workplaces or businesses will not have to close at midday.

The Prime Minister said there will be a ban on funeral services starting August 25 to September 7.

Mr. Holness noted that new restrictions will be placed on places of worship.

The general public gathering limit remains at ten.
