Several members of the security forces suspected of being apart of Clarendon-based gang, arrested

by March 25th, 2022

Several members of the security forces suspected to be apart of the Clarendon-based Ranko gang were arrested by the police, this morning (March 25).

Head of the Crime and Security Portfolio, Deputy Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey made the revelation during a press conference today.

DCP Bailey said the gang is believed to have committed several crimes including robberies, across the island, between 2019 and last year.

He said at least 8 members of the security forces are believed to be apart of gang allegedly led by Constable Tafari Silvera.

Four police officers were among 12 alleged gang members arrested this morning.

He is urging other persons who are suspected to be apart of the gang to turn themselves in to the police.

DCP Bailey is assuring that the police will be unbiased in the investigation of its members.

Meantime, Commissioner of Police Major General Antony Anderson has encouraged law abiding members not to be disheartened by the arrest of their corrupt colleagues.

He was speaking at an event earlier today.
