Shaggy one of two major acts to take part in ABC’s Christmas Special

Grammy winning dancehall artiste, Shaggy will be one of two major acts to take part in ABC‘s Christmas Special, this year.

Through a partnership with Disney Channel, ABC which is the home of the Little Mermaid Live, in which Shaggy has landed a major role, will present viewers with three magical specials, featuring star-studded performances, merry entertainment and much more.

Shaggy whose real name is Orville Burrell, made the announcement during a press conference at the Bustamante Hospital for Children in Kingston, yesterday (November 11).

Speaking with reporters following yesterday’s press conference, he said this is the first time that Reggae and Dancehall will be included in the show.

Shaggy will also be performing a series of songs, including a new festive reggae version of “Silent Night” alongside Grammy award-winning icon Sting.

Shaggy explained that this will be a good platform for the Jamaican culture.

He added that the show will be aired in two parts, first on Thanksgiving which will be celebrated on Thursday November 28, in the United States and secondly on Christmas day.

According to Disney Parks Blog, Shaggy will also perform “Jamaican Drummer Boy” from Walt Disney World Resort, on December 13.

Other acts who will be partaking in the Christmas Special are three-time Grammy award-winning group Pentatonix.

The group will sing cappella renditions of “Deck the Halls” and “Here Comes Santa Claus” from Walt Disney World Resort.

Additionally, the Tony, Emmy, and two-time Golden Globe -nominated artist Matthew Morrison, will be performing a medley from Walt Disney World Resort of “When You Wish Upon a Star.”
