A number of West Indian players have made gains on the latest release of the MRF Tyres ICC Test Rankings after the conclusion of the three Test series against England.

Batsman Shai Hope, who was jointly named Player of the Series along with England’s James Anderson, has continued his upward surge, gaining 11 slots to take a career-best 30th position.

Opener Kieran Powell has moved up 18 slots to 68th while Kraigg Brathwaite, despite falling two places, is the highest ranked West Indian at 17.

Roston Chase 40 and Jermaine Blackwood 41, are the only other West Indians inside the top 50.

Still holding the number one spot is Steve Smith (Australia) with Joe Root (England) and Kane Williamson (New Zealand) rounding out the top 3.

On the rankings for Test bowlers. Windies pacer Kemar Roach has moved up four places to 24th after a five-wicket haul in the first innings of the third England Test, while captain Jason Holder is up to 33rd after making a move of 3 places.

Shannon Gabriel continues to be the number one West Indian bowler at 20 while spinner Devendra Bishoo – 28 – is also inside the top 50.

Anderson in the meantime has now overtaken India’s Ravindra Jadeja as world number one following his match figures of 9 wickets, including a career best 7 for 42 in the third test win for England over the West Indies.

The 35 year old, who was the top-ranked bowler in August 2016, has reclaimed the spot to become the oldest bowler to be number-one ranked since Sri Lanka spinner Muttiah Muralidaran in July 2009 and the oldest pace bowler to be at the top since Australia’s Glenn McGrath in January 2006.

Meanwhile, there has been no change in the MRF Tyres ICC Test Team Rankings following the series with England and the Windies retaining their pre-series 105 and 75 points, respectively.

India still holds top spot ahead of South Africa with England, New Zealand and Australia completing the top 5.
