Shanieka Ricketts the best placed Jamaican at 2018 IAAF Diamond League finals in Zurich

Shanieka Ricketts was the best placed Jamaican at the first of the two 2018 IAAF Diamond League finals in Zurich.

Ricketts leapt 14.55 meters to take the runner up spot in the women’s triple jump, finishing ahead of Kimberly Williams who took third with 14.47 meters.

The event won by Colombia’s Caterine ibarguen with a leap of 14.56.

Commonwealth games champion Janieve Russell who never placed outside the top two all season took third place in the women’s 400 meters hurdles.

Russell who came into the final as joint leader clocked 54.38 seconds as Dalilah Mohammed of the US won the event in 53.88 seconds ahead of country woman Shamier Little who clocked 54.21 seconds

Meanwhile eight other Jamaicans will be in action tomorrow in Brussels for the second of the two diamond league finals.

They include Fredrick Dacres in the men’s discus; Stephanie Ann McPherson in the women’s 400 meters; Aisha Praught in the women’s 3000metres steeplechase; Ronald Levy and Hansle Parchment in the men’s 110meteres hurdles; Yohan Blake in the men’s 100 meters; Danielle Williams in the women’s 100m hurdles and Shericka jackson in the women’s 200 meters.
