West Indies pacer Shannon Gabriel will miss the second test against Bangladesh which starts next Friday in Mirpur….after he was slapped with a one-match ban by the ICC.
This stemming from an incident on yesterday’s opening day of the first test in Chittagong where he made physical contact with batsman Imrul Kayes.
The incident which occurred in the 8th over resulted in him receiving two demerit points and a fine of 30% of his match fee……….. taking his tally of demerit points to five.
Gabriel had picked up three demerit points during the Jamaica test against Pakistan in April 2017………….where he also made contact with batsman Sarfraz Ahmed at the non-striker’s end while collecting his cap from the umpire.
An ICC statement said Gabriel admitted the offence and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee David Boon, so there was no formal hearing.
