Shaw, Montague respond to assertions of demotion and poor performance following cabinet reshuffle

by March 27th, 2018

Former Finance Minister Audley Shaw says he does not regard his transfer to the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries as a demotion.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness reshuffled the Cabinet yesterday, moving Audley Shaw from the Finance Ministry.

Dr. Nigel Clarke is the new Finance Minister.

Mr. Shaw notes that the macro economy is now at an acceptable state, and it is time to look at the micro economy.

He says he considers the move an honour.

Mr. Shaw highlights that he has plans to continue improving the country in his new portfolio.

Meanwhile, Robert Montague says, he does not believe that his reassignment to the Ministry of Transport and Mining signifies that he was not doing a good job as National Security Minister.

Mr. Montague says the Prime Minister has the right to move any minister.

He notes that all members of the Cabinet are working with the change, and he will be working to build the Transport Ministry.

Mr. Montague explains that he will be bringing new ideas to the Ministry of Transport and Mining.
