Shimona Nelson joins Magpies Netball for 2019 Suncorp Super Netball League season

Shimona Nelson has joined the Magpies Netball club for the 2019 season of the Suncorp Super Netball League in Australia.

This after a sensational debut season with the under-performing Adelaide Thunderbirds that saw her to finish among the statistical leaders.

Nelson, who was drafted after starring for Jamaica’s Fast5 Netball World Series team, led the Thunderbirds in scoring with 418 goals.

She ended the season as the competition’s 6th leading scorer – 365 behind Jamaican compatriot Jhaniele Fowler of the West Coast Fever who led the way with 783.

The 19 year old was also 4th in rebounds with 27 to finish behind only Romelda Aiken (61), Fowler (35) and Caitlin Bassett (28).

The Thunderbirds meanwhile ended the 2018 campaign winless to finish at the bottom of the table. Her new team – the Magpies – won 3 of their 14 games to end second to last on 39 points.
