Shimona Nelson on losing end of Suncorp Super Netball League match in Australia

Star Sunshine girl shooter Shimona Nelson despite a team-high 41 goals was unable to prevent Magpies Netball from suffering a 68-52 loss to the NSW swifts to close out action in round six of the Suncorp Super Netball League in Australia.

The Magpies with the result dropped a place to 5th on the table on 21 points while the Swifts took over top spot on 40 points.

Nelson who took 44 shots in the contest is third on the scoring charts with 268 goals……39 behind Jamaican teammate Jhaniele Fowler of the West Coast Fever who leads the way with 307.

The other game on the day saw Giants Netball notching a 65-54 win against an Adelaide Thunderbirds team that featured Jamaican defender Shamera Sterling.

Action on the weekend also saw the Melbourne Vixens team with Kadie-Ann Dehaney recording a 62-52 win on the road against two-time defending champions Sunshine Coast Lightning.

Elsewhere Romelda Aiken was unused by the Queensland Firebirds in the 62-all draw with the West Coast Fever.

Jhaniele Fowler in that contest paced all scorers with a game high 55 goals from 60 attempts.
