In commemoration of International Women’s Day, entertainer Shuga is today launching her foundation, Femme Phenomenal.

The launch of the foundation is slated to take place later this evening at 20A Millsborough Crescent in St Andrew.

Shuga said she was inspired to start a women’s foundation because of her own experiences. She tells Music News that the aim of Femme Phenomenal is to mentor and uplift women and girls who have been victims of abuse.

Following the launch, Shuga will embark on a school to help raise awareness and provide hope for those who continue to suffer in silence.

Shuga also used International Women’s Day to mark the launch of her song, Phenomenal Woman.

International Women’s Day is celebrated each year on March 8. The 2019 theme, Balance for Better, is aimed at gender equality, a greater awareness of discrimination and a celebration of women’s achievements.
