Significant increase in Consumer and Business Confidence in the second quarter of 2021

There has been a significant increase in Consumer and Business Confidence in the second quarter of 2021; however both indices are still below Pre-Covid levels.

Pollster Don Anderson notes that business confidence increased to 130.8 points in June, compared to 115.2 points in March this year.

Meanwhile consumer confidence increased to 149.8 points from 120.7 points in March 2021.

He notes that some 600 persons and 100 businesses from across the island were interviewed for the latest poll.

Focusing on the Consumer Indices, Mr. Anderson says the overall consumer confidence rose by approximately 30 points in the second quarter.

He notes that consumers are cautiously optimistic about the country’s economic conditions in the next two years.

In the meantime, Mr. Anderson says business confidence moved by 15 points from 115 to 130 in the past quarter.

He was speaking yesterday (July 20), at the release of the 2021 Business and Consumer indices 2nd quarter results.
