Simpson Miller and Dr Davies to leave representational politics

Two stalwarts of the People’s National Party, will be stepping down as Members of Parliament on June 29.

They are Former Opposition Leader and MP for South West St. Andrew, Portia Simpson Miller, and Member of Parliament for South St. Andrew, Dr. Omar Davies.

In parliament this afternoon (June 13) Leader of Opposition Business, Phillip Paulwell announced that they will submit letters of intent to resign, to the Speaker of the House.

Mrs. Simpson Miller and Dr. Davies will officially resign on June 29, when their letters of resignation will be handed to the Speaker of the House.

Mr. Paulwell, says today the country is witnessing the beginning of a historical changing of the guard, when two sitting members of adjoining constituencies will simultaneously take their bow on June 29.

He says, at a future date, the parliament will pay tribute to both members for their services to the people, the parliament and Jamaica.
