Slyvia’s wonderful journey – Veteran Para athlete calls time on her career.

Jamaica’s most decorated female Para athlete Sylvia Grant will be calling time on her international career.

The 58 year old who first represented the country at the 1988 Paralympics in Seoul closed out her career with a 10th place finish in the F57 Discus final at the ongoing games in Tokyo Japan.

This was her 8th Paralympics and in total she has won six medals including four in her first games in Seoul where she won three silver and two bronze.

She would subsequently won bronze at the Barcelona games in 1992 and the Atlanta games in 1996.

She has also been to three finals including the Tokyo games..

Looking back, Grant who had the honor of being the country’s flag bearer at the opening ceremony of the Tokyo games, says it was a wonderful journey for her over the years.

Grant also expressed an interest in giving back to the sport through coaching.
