Could Vybz Kartel’s smartphone help the incarcerated entertainer win his appeal?

Today the Appeal Court heard that one of the text messages which prosecutors used to convict Vybz Kartel and Shawn Storm of murder was created six weeks before the victim’s death.

Bianca Samuels, one of the attorneys for Shawn Storm, in making her submissions said the data for one of the text messages which was produced by the prosecution at the trial was created six weeks before the death of Clive “Lizard” Williams. Attorney-at-law Samuels was referring to text messages allegedly found on one of Kartel’s mobile phones that Clive “Lizard Williams was chopped up fine, fine.

Samuels also noted that there was evidence that the mobile phones taken from Vybz Kartel were used to make calls while they were in the custody of the police.

Vybz Kartel and Shawn Storm along with two others were sentenced to life imprisonment. Kartel was ordered to serve 35 years before  he’s eligible for parole.
