Some of the Jamaican students who had to return home from Ukraine due to the war, have expressed gratitude for the financial-assistance-grants, given to them by Opposition Leader Mark Golding, yesterday (June 29).

Each student was handed a cheque valued at 75 thousand dollars.

The students said it has been difficult adjusting to life in Jamaica.

Kavaughn Chambers, who is studying medicine, said the grant will help his situation.

Meantime, Lorna Whitely, the mother of Shanae Douglas who is a medical student, said the contribution will help offset tuition costs.

And, another student, Georden Shaw said, while some students were able to secure jobs, or get sponsored placement at the University of the West Indies, many others, were not so fortunate.

She said the grant will help with replacing items they lost.
