Some prosecutors remain off the job over wage and other issues

by July 21st, 2023

Operations at some of the island’s courts have been impacted for a second consecutive day, as a number of Prosecutors employed to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, remain off the job.

The workers who started the industrial action yesterday are upset about the lack of response from the government, about concerns with wages and other matters.

They have indicated that the matter is being discussed among members, as they await a meeting with the Ministers of Finance and Justice.

The bargaining group, that represents members of the legal profession-employed to the government, including prosecutors, is the Legal Officers Staff Association, LOSA.

Finance Minister, Dr. Nigel Clarke has stated, that LOSA already raised concerns, and requested a meeting, and was informed that given the schedule of meetings with other groups, his ministry would not be able to accommodate a meeting with them for some time.

Yesterday, court matters in 6 parishes were impacted and had to be rescheduled.
